About Us

"When I was diagnosed in 2010, I didn't know anyone else locally that had the disease. It was my hope that by telling my story, others would join me in this journey. Thankfully, they have." — George Manahan

OUR STORY

The West Virginia Parkinson’s Support Network is a loosely affiliated organization of support groups in the state that promotes Parkinson’s-specific information, events and services in West Virginia. The website was created by George Manahan, who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2010.

The Charleston Parkinson’s Support Group, which manages the West Virginia Parkinson’s Support Network, is a not-for-profit, 501c3 organization and we welcome your tax deductible donations. All donations are used to support our programs, which are free to anyone living with Parkinson’s disease.

OUR MISSION

If you live in West Virginia and are living with Parkinson’s disease, either as a caregiver, family member or a person with Parkinson’s, you are in the right place.

Our goal is to provide West Virginia specific information that will help you or your loved one live a fulfilling life with Parkinson’s disease. You can also join us on Facebook. We have set up an invitation-only Facebook page that allows members to pose questions to other members and learn about the latest research into finding a cure for the disease.
